A Lenexa-based portfolio company with designs on building a nationwide fire and life safety services company has united four similar businesses under one brand. In April 2021, New York-based private equity firms Lincolnshire Management Inc. and VSS Capital Partners along with the company's management team made a platform investment in Barrier Cos. At the time, Barrier had more than 150 employees working from regional offices in Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska and Texas. Since then, the fire and life safety and containment services provider has ballooned to about 400 employees, primarily by acquiring three peers: Prevent Life Safety Services Inc.
